23/24 Season Update:

We are really excited to bring you the 2023/24 season.

Registration will open on the 1st of August, and competition will begin on the 1st of September.

Our fees will be remaining the same as in previous years which we’re very happy about.

WESTLAKES ATHLETICS 2022/23 SEASON UPDATE

As we have previously announced, our season start had to be delayed due to the unsafe condition of Wangi Oval. So we postponed our season until the 7th of October to give us additional time to rectify the situation.

We have begun this process, but the continued rain and enormity of the task has meant that unfortunately Wangi Oval will NOT be fit for athletics use by the 7th of October. We are meeting with Council at the oval next week to discuss options moving into the future.

This essentially leaves us with two options.

  1. Postpone our season further.
  2. Look for an alternative venue in the short term.

We have selected option 2.

Westlakes Athletics Club season will commence on THURSDAY 13TH of OCTOBER at Hunter Sports Centre GLENDALE, competing from 6pm.

This arrangement will continue for at least FOUR weeks (until the 3rd or November) but may be extended until such time as we can return to competing on Friday Nights at Wangi Oval. There will be no additional cost to athletes and families for entry to Hunter Sports Centre.

This is the last thing that we wanted to do, but we recognise that we now have 131 registered members who have paid to compete as well as a large number of people who have requested to come and try athletics as well.

We also realise that some people cannot or do not wish to attend athletics on a Thursday Night at a different location. We fully understand these concerns and provide you with the following options:

  1. There are a range of other clubs in our region who compete on a Friday night who you are free to compete at as long as you are wearing your registration number. (Macquarie Hunter/Glendale, Edgeworth, Cardiff)
  2. You can request a full refund by contacting Little Athletics NSW (02 9633 4511, admin@lansw.com.au)
  3. You can transfer to another club that competes on a Friday night such as those listed above.

Please note our third registration pick up event will still proceed as planned at Wangi Oval on the 5th of October from 6-7:30pm.

As a committee we have agonised over this decision but believe that providing our paying members opportunities to compete in a safe location is our top priority. We will be working hard to ensure that our club can return home to Wangi Oval on Friday nights as soon as possible. We thank you for your understanding.

REGISTRATION 2022/23
💛💚 REGISTRATION UPDATE!! 💛💚
Registrations Open Monday 1/8/22 for the 2022/23 season.
Here is EVERYTHING you need to know to register for Westlakes Athletics Club:
🔶 Registration occurs ONLINE only. To register for our club go to https://regoform.mygameday.app/#/rL7PxbbLE93H36CgIN/txyFxVWCfPrCRUXU5w
🔹 Upon registration you will need to pay for the LANSW fee as well as the club portion. The club portion further gets broken up to pay for the oval fees, zone and region fees and presentation day among other things.
🔹 The age group your child will compete in is the age they will turn in 2023. For example, if you are born on 1/12/2011 you would compete in the under 12 age group.
🔹 Registrations are not refundable. If you wish to come and try athletics at our club before registering you are permitted to have a free two week trial. Do not register online for this, instead come to the club on a competition night and complete a triallist form.
🔶 Once online registration is complete we will be having two registration pick up events at the club. These will occur:
🔹 Sunday the 28th of August from 3-5pm.
🔹 Tuesday the 30th of August from 6-7pm.
These events are so families can collect their rego packs, consisting of registration numbers, age patches and Coles patch as well as make any uniform purchases. Standard uniform pieces are $40 each. (EFTPOS available)
NOTE: New families/athletes are required to show proof of age. This can occur either through the registration form on in person at a registration pick up event.
🔶 Parent help: We have a small dedicated committee, but we are not able to run all of the events on a Friday night. We need people who can assist with:
🔹 Managing age groups (minimum 2 per age group, with a ratio of 1:5 for 10+ athletes)
🔹 Helping at the finish line
🔹 Helping with field set up (from 5pm)
🔹 Helping with Tiny Tots.
No experience is necessary and all training will be provided for the many and varied jobs that need to be done to help our competition run as smoothly as possible. Note: Working with Children’s Checks are only required if you don’t have a child competing.

🔶 Dual members: Athletes from U12-17 can become members of Athletics NSW for free if they wish to compete at ANSW events (such as All Schools and the Country Championships) The link for this is not yet available. We will share this link when it becomes available.

REGISTRATIONS OPEN SEASON 2021/22
🔶🔶🔶2021/22 SEASON UPDATE 🔶🔶🔶
The club committee has met this evening and determined that our season will BEGIN on the 3rd of December. We wanted to ensure that all of our athletes and families could attend.
REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN NOW:
We will have three registration pickup dates where you can collect your rego packs and try on/purchase uniform.
🔹 Saturday the 6th of November 10am-12pm *
🔹 Saturday the 20th of November 3pm – 5pm *
🔹 Wednesday 1st of December 6pm – 7pm
* note: attendees 16 and above will need to be vaccinated to to attend these rego pick up dates.
AGE MANAGERS:
Last season we had allocated age managers for each age group. We will do this again this season in the following way.
🔹 Each age group will need at least 2 age managers
🔹 If age groups have more than 10 athletes, we will need a ratio of 1 manager per 5 athletes.
🔹 We will also need allocated assistance for the finish line.
More information will be available on how to nominate and age group to work with soon.
COME AND TRY:
For athletes who wish to trial at our club you are able to trial for free during December. After that you will need to register.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SEASON 20/21
Athletes can now register for season 20/21 at www.lansw.com.au
PLEASE NOTE THAT NUMBERS IN EACH AGE GROUP ARE LIMITED. You MUST check that you can register all of your athletes before starting to avoid disappointment. Registrations are non refundable.
We will alert members once age groups fill up.
